Tinkerbell June Birthstone Disney Pin

Image
The Babe traded for this Tinkerbell Disney Pin that has [June] on it and must be part of a monthly series of pins, right?  There's limited information that I can find on the pin.  I've turned to my usual source of eBay and while there's other J une birthstone-related Tinkerbell pins , this one just turns up some generic descriptions.   PinPics isn't any more help as they don't have this one in their archives . This pin is interesting for the big pearl on it - and the dimension that it adds.  The pearl is about 1/2" raised off the pin, so this is one of the larger pins that we've ever scored - and this one was traded for from the boat guys at the International Gateway outside the backdoor of Epcot .   There are a few pins that we've traded for over the years that stand out in terms of being 'good finds'.  This one ranks up there.  Along with this vintage Polynesian Christmas one (that I don't seem to have posted) or this Minnie Mous

Growing A Pineapple Plant - Giving It A Try At Home

Image
Ever since we first saw the little pineapple plants growing in the gardens at Epcot's Flower and Garden show back in Spring of 2016 , I've had the notion in my mind that it would be fun/interesting to try to give a pineapple plant a try.  But, where would we ever come across one?  The answer, surprisingly, was Menards.  Yeah...my favorite store.  Menards.  For some reason, they carried a handful of pineapple plants - Ananas Comosus - earlier this Spring.  I was wandering out to the garden center and passed by the tropical section and they had four or five of these things on the end cap.  $11.99?  Can't pass it up, right?   I planted it in a clay pot that seemed size appropriately.  Here's a close-up of the fruit that is on the plant currently: Once the weather moderated and we seem to be having no more cold spells, I transitioned it outside to the back patio where it is living amongst our upside tomato plant (well...not quite 'ours', but we'

Milk Thistle @ Epcot Flower And Garden Show

Image
If you ever come across Milk Thistle, don't - as I did - reach down and try to feel the leaves.  They sure look interesting, don't they?  Well...they're covered in little, super-sharp thorns.  Lesson learned. This was one of a bunch of plants/flowers that they had set up in a little medicinal garden during Epcot's Flower and Garden show. They also had pineapples!  Yeah...look at this little cute tree/plant that has a big pineapple coming out of the top of the thing: You can spot the Milk Thistle in the upper right corner of this photo for placement in the medicinal garden.

Tow Mater Topiary At Epcot's Flower And Garden Show - 2015

Image
This beautifully-crafted Mater was one a few topiaries that we had not checked out/viewed before on our other trips to the Flower and Garden Show.  He is over by Test Track and tucked into a little pocket that includes a nice playground for little ones.  The Bird played and played there and we had to drag her out screaming so we could go on Soarin'.
