Why I Oughta...

There we were, minding our own business on a little trip out in Oak Brook, when we came across one of John Lennon's prized Rolls Royce phantoms sitting out front.   Two quick things:  First, pretty sure this isn't a Phantom V ( as only 517 of them were made ) and second, it isn't John's, of course.  If you head here and scroll down , you can see that John's car had a third side window - and was stretched out longer than this beauty below.   Would make a heckuva wedding-day car, wouldn't it?  That's what I'm guessing it was doing out.

After taking a one-year COVID-related break from The Last Waltz here on the blog for Thanksgiving (with an appropriate detour of " Whatever Gets You Through The Night" from Elton John and John Lennon ), it feels right to come back home to The Last Waltz this year.  Sort of.  Will I watch The Last Waltz?  That's my plan.  But, what's the hangup?  The Beatles Get Back is released today - Thanksgiving Day - on Disney+.   So, what lives at the intersection of The Last Waltz by The Band and Get Back by the Beatles?  It seems that it is this rendition of Hey Jude by The Beatles as performed on David Frost's Frost on Sunday.  Why this song?  First, it is a really lovely number.  But, thanks to my good friend Neil, I discovered a neat little nugget:  If you scroll ahead (or listen all the way) to around 6:19ish mark (during the nah-nah-nahs), you can hear Macca belt out some lyrics from The Weight.  "Take a load off, baby.  Take a load off, baby.  Put it back on me&q

 In terms of "super groups", I think we all can agree that the Traveling Wilburys are tops.  There are some that are part of my lifetime (like Temple of the Dog and Oysterhead) and plenty of them from way before my life including CSNY and Cream. Rolling Stone has a pretty good list here .   The reason I bring it up is that I've come across a new (to me) supergroup:  The Dirty Mac.   Like all of you Google Music users, I've had to make the (TERRIBLE) migration to YouTube Music.  Can I tell you how much I dislike YouTube Music?  It, umm, feels like they don't really care if anyone uses the service.  But, on there, I came across this Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus video of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" .  Neat version, cool video.  But, at the bottom of the description there's this little nugget:   "The program also includes extraordinary performances by The Who, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull, Yoko Ono, and The Dirty M
