WDWToday Tweeting Button

Image
We ran into the @wdwtoday folks at the half marathon expo where they were handing out these buttons - which I'm not totally sure I understand.  Didn't stop me from grabbing one, though. Is this a button that *they* wear?  Or...am I supposed to wear it in the parks to tell people that I'm tweeting things?

"Worlds Colliding"

Image
My buddy Adam sent me an email last week with a screenshot of this Tweet and the subject line of "Worlds Colliding". Adam couldn't have been more right.  This Tweet makes me so happy. I read it like noine times.

Good Guy Clif Bar Customer Care On Twitter

Image
Yesterday, I posted what I thought was a funny video showing off the new 'zero calorie' Clif Kid Z bars that we got from Costco .  I went on Twitter and gave the fine folks at Clif Bar a little bit of grief and included the #ThanksObama hashtag for these new light bars.  This wasn't brand-shaming and I wasn't going crazy, just trying to get their attention of the problem we encountered using a channel of my choosing. Customer care via social isn't easy and the good folks at Clif Bar stepped up and responded and directed me to their other customer care channels.  Good for them.  Would have loved to see a little bit of brand personality come out in their reply, but we can't get everything, can we?!? Thanks for the conversation, Clif Bar team.  I went to the contact form and filled it out with details.  We'll see if they get back to me.  If they do?  I'm sure I'll post it here. @jakeparrillo Sorry about that. Please contact our CS team ...

My 8 Year "Twitterversary" Was Last Week

Image
Last week I received this notification on my phone from the fine folks over at Twitter.  They were wishing me a happy "Twitterversary".  Turns out, I joined Twitter on May 29th 2007.  Looking back at the blog from then, I didn't post on the 29th, so I must have been looking for something to do? May of 2007, I was back at FeedBurner - about to join Google on June 1, 2007 - so perhaps I was bored looking for something to do?  Seem like a logical story, doesn't it? Looking at my Twitter profile , I'm now over 3,400 tweets, I follow just under 1,000 people/places/things, and have close to 700 followers.  Back in 2010, I covered when I crossed the 1,000 tweet milestone here on the blog .  Meaning...it took me 3 years to get to 1K tweets, or about 333/year.  2.4K tweets in five years since March of 2010.

City of Chicago Treasurer Kurt Summer Running Promoted Handle On Twitter

Image
Not sure of what he's targeting, but I'm seeing this promoted account from Kurt Summers - the new City of Chicago Treasurer - on Twitter A LOT these days.  I finally caved and added him.  Have to say...it feels a bit like the wrong move right now?  I'd be spending my money promoting the content instead of the account?  Driving people to a landing page to take some action?  But...perhaps...much like we learned with the State Treasurer's race....this campaign will get NO interest and barely any attention.  So...building up your own base of followers might be useful?

My 2000th Tweet

Image
It was just  late March of 2010 that I crossed the 1000th Tweet mark , but here we are: less than a year later and I've just hit my 2000th Tweet.  Joining Twitter in early 2007, it took me 3 years to get to 1,000 messages on the network, but less than a year to double that number.  The rough math says that I'm averaging right around 3ish Tweets per day.  One comes from this blog via the FeedBurner Socialize service, but the other twoish ones per day, I'm manually generating.  Yikes.  Perhaps there's a better way to spend my time.

Land of 1000 Tweets

Image
Over the weekend, I posted my "1000th Tweet" to Twitter.  According to whendidyoujointwitter.com , I started "tweeting" on May 27, 2007 - almost 3 years ago.  I think it was just twittr.com back then, but somewhere along the line they added the "e".  I was at FeedBurner in May of 2007 - about to join Google.  I didn't have a lot to say back then, ( My first Tweet was about getting a Meatball Parm Sangwich at Venice Cafe ), and I don't have a lot to say now. You can follow along on my choice for breakfast over on Twitter @jakeparrillo .
