Forbidden Fruit Hostas - Fall Planting - October 2022
The past two days, I've posted photos of plants that I picked up at the Lowes 50% off Fall sale starting with the Proven Winners Dolce Silver Heucheras. And just yesterday I posted details of five small quart containers of Ajuga Chocolate Chip groundcover. But, I also grabbed a few other things including a pair of these handsome hostas that have large white centers that sure made me pay attention to them mixed-in amongst other hostas. Look at the photo below to see the why I had to buy them:
- Fully tetraploid sport of 'Orange Marmalade' with thicker leaves and wider blue-green margins.
- Yellow-orange leaves with nice blue-green margins. Leaf center is almost white late in the season.
- Will be brightest if grown in some sun. A stunning hosta!
- One of those hostas that customers flock to it in the greenhouse because of the color contrast.
(Emphasis, mine). I'm one of those customers who 'flocked'.
I bought just two and now that I have them home, I already have regrets. These are going to go over by the Guacamole hostas and I'm pretty sure they'll brighten up that shady spot.
