More Dahlias In Bloom - Milena Fleur, Creme de Cognac, Blue Wish, Burlesca, Pooh and More - July 2026
Even more varieties (and types) of dahlias are beginning to bloom in the various planting pockets around the front, side and back yard. I'll start with some new (meaning...first time blooming *this year*) and then move on to some ones that I've cut previously this season.
First up is my favorite dahlia: Milena Fleur. The very first bloom opened up. This was the dahlia that made me plant dahlias. I should have planted MORE of these plants.

Blue Wish continues to rocket to the top of my 'favorite dahlia' list. This pale purple and white flower is just about perfect.
This purple single dahlia is a mystery to me. Not sure what it is, but it has dark foliage:
Wizard of Oz continues to be prolific. Three more blooms on the plant were poppin' off:Rip City (or not Rip City?) has what sure feels like two different flowers on one plant: A semi-cactus bloom and this more decorative-shaped one on the left. What is going on with this plant?
And, lastly....a look at a bunch of Burlesca Ball Dahlias. These are early stars of this year's class:

I made two arrangements. The first one is a giant mix of everything. The second is just the Burlescas with the single Milena Fleur:
