Scaevola Bombay Dark Blue, Red Wave Petunias and Creeping Jenny in Containers - July 2024
Moving on from the pair of stoop containers (small ones), we now look at the pair of larger, back patio containers. #7 on my 2024 to-do list was to 'do better containers' - and these two are the largest of the bunch and that means can have the biggest impact. Are these perfect? Nope. Not by a lot. Are they better than last year? I think so.
Here, below, is a look at both of them side-by-side. There's Creeping Jenny cascading down in both. Red Wave Petunias are dotted in both. The corner container has Orange Zinnias. And the round one has the (new to me) Scaevola 'Bombay Dark Blue flower that has spread out and added some nice color.
Below is a closer look at the Scaevola 'Bombay Dark Blue - from The Growing Place.
The Creeping Jenny was a hold-over from last year and overwintered in teh containers. Here, below, is a look at these a month ago when I just had the Red Petunias in:

First I’ve seen your blog and I can relate to many of your topics. I garden in Michigan (6B zone). I too have a patio garden, an island garden and containers. I have also recently been using the color combo of deep purple Petunias, bright green Creeping Jenny & Coleus and I add a small orange Marigold. I have been overwintering my Creeping Jenny in the ground but I just learned from you that it can overwinter in the pot. So this winter I will try moving the containers into our breezeway or garage.
ReplyDeleteI find gardening is a fun learning process and a challenge. Thanks for your tips and I’ll be reading your blog in the future.
