With the month coming to an end, there are a number of things that happened this month that I didn't get around to posting about in my garden diary. Here, below are a series of photos showing some of the things that are moving, growing, blooming and....showing-off in our garden.
The dahlias that I planted earlier this month - and pinched back - are showing some good growth. Below is one of the Pooh dahlias that is showing top-growth at the pinch-site:
I applied a coat of Neem Oil to the Disneyland Roses. Combination fungicide + pest control:
These weird Allium are in bloom. It is called Sicilian Honey Garlic Allium.
This
Island Breeze hosta is doing just fine in the shade garden. Planted in 2023 and mostly forgotten about. It deserves a better, more-high-profile spot in the garden. I should transplant it this Fall.
The Arrowwood Viburnum (Chicago Lustre) are getting tall - just about the height of the fence.
And, going to bloom this year - see below for the cluster of flowers ready to explode.
In the far back of the yard, we have a weed shrub that flowers. Pretty sure it is a honeysuckle, but unsure if it is the invasive type. I assume it is. These are the flowers:
And, here is a wider-view of the shrub. I've left it in place, but will think about controlling it - once I figure out what kind of honeysuckle it really is - and whether it is invasive or not. (It probably is, right??)
The Allium Christophi are pop'ing off this month:
And so is the Cat's Pajamas Nepeta. I should divide this clump:
This is String Theory Amsonia. Really nice, but in a bad spot to enjoy.
These white flowers popped up in the lawn. Believe they are flowering Wild Onions. Not good.
The Lemony Lace Elderberry really put on some big growth this Spring. And it is showing off this early part of the Summer with a ton of new, bright foliage:
We're headed into the heat of Summer with July and August, so I'll stop doing anything other than watering and weeding for the next few months. At least...that's what I'd prefer to do, but I know that won't stick.
